Haiku about Winter (11)

The other day I visited the foot of Mt. Taihei (太平山) in Akita (秋田), where I remembered climbing there and wrote haiku.

Alpinists

overcome blizzard ―

for heaven

岳人やブリザード超え天上へ

Gakujin ya burizaado koe tenjou e

Paddy fields

in repose ―

snow blanket

水田や雪の毛布に安らげり

Suiden ya yuki no moufu ni yasurageri

― Hidenori Hiruta

  3. Dear Hidenori San:

The diction used in the second haiku is emotionally effective.

And I wish you and yours the happiest of holiday seasons and all the best for 2011.
