On a spring day I happened to take a stroll in the woods after it snowed that morning.
I found butterburs come out in the fields.
Butterburs
come out of the ground ―
the spirits of the earth
地の精や蕗の薹野に出でにけり
Chi no sei ya fuki no tou no ni ide ni keri
Spring snow
washes the spirits ―
purified
春の雪精を洗ひて清めけり
Haru no yuki sei o arai te kiyome keri
